He was The Son of man in the flesh and and the Son of God in the spirit
(Be Spiritual this Year)

One of the major reasons why the Jews delivered Jesus to be  crucified by the Roman soldiers  was because He called Himself the Son of God. They could not take that because in the Jewish tradition, the authority of a father is no different from that of his matured son. If you say you are the son of God, you are literally saying you are God Himself. That is their belief, and that is what it is.

The Jews will have no problem if Jesus went about calling himself the son of David, even though they knew that the messiah was going to come from the tribe of David, but to say you are the son of God, that was too much for them to handle. According to the law, it was pure blasphemy, which is punishable by death as a penalty. So they were looking for every opportunity to kill Him.

Why do you want to kill M e for doing good? Jesus Asked?
John 10:31-33

The experience that Jesus had with the Jews, as recorded by the apostle John in his book, started primarily from chapter 9, when Jesus healed a man who had been born blind; they made every effort to discredit the miracle. In His defense, Jesus called Himself the Son of God, and they took up stones to kill him immediately for calling Himself the Son of God, meaning He was calling Himself God.

What was the problem?

Their knowledge about the messiah was very shallow; they read the scripture, believed it and yet he was never revealed to them.

“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not” (John 1:10-11)

He was the Son of man in the flesh, and he is the Son of God by the Spirit. Matthew 22:41-46

To clarify this, Jesus, in a heated debate with the the pharisees, asked them, what is your thought about the Messiah, what son is He?  They answered, ” The son of David. They where scripturally correct and that is all they knew about Him. But there is far more about Him that they didn’t know.

So Jesus began to set the foundation of the revelation of who Christ is by asking the question, “If he is the son of David, why did the same David, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, call his own son LORD?

“The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.” (Psalms 110:1).
They could not answer.  Peter continued this revelation of Christ’s sonship in Acts 2:34, then the apostle Paul, with full understanding of this revelation, stated expressly,

“Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead” (Romans 1:3-4)

This is the most powerful revelation every  believer must have in their walk with God; it is so fundamental that it can distort a believer’s scriptural understanding of Jesus as the Son of God if He is not revealed to him and this revelation is personal. Don’t be like the Pharisees, who only know the letters of the scriptures without rhema (Revelation, Spiritual insight). The implication was clear: Christ visited them, yet they could not recognise Him. Many people have missed their time of visitation, having prayed for so long to the son of David in the flesh, but when Christ comes as the son of God in the spirit to deliver the answers to their prayer, they often reject him because they are unable to recognise him.

Unfortunately, they keep looking for the son of David. Many believers have died still looking out and waiting for the Son of David. Please get spiritual, the kingdom of God is not in the flesh; it is a spiritual kingdom, and we live in this kingdom by faith. This year, the Son of God will pay you multiple visits in Jesus’ name. Receive the  capacity to see Him recognise him and receive him when He visits you. You shall see Him, recognise him and receive Him in Jesus name. Your life will never remain the same.
