Unveiling The Hidden Treasure
Text: 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV)
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
This is the biggest revelation a child of God must have about himself after the new birth experience; he will not so much enjoy the manifestation of the kingdom of God here on earth.
The Apostle Paul tells the Ephesian church that God is only able to do what we ask Him or think about through the power that works in us.
Ephesian 3:20 (KJV)
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
What is that power that works within us? It is the same thing he refers to as the treasure in our earthen vessel. This treasure is the Holy Spirit. A child of God must know himself and the treasure that he carries inside of him. This knowledge alone is faith; it boosts our confidence and gives us the courage to journey through life regardless of the situation we may find ourselves in.
And if God is going to bless us, deliver us, speak to us, raise us up, manifest his power in our lives, think about it, he cannot do so without the Holy Spirit that is in us. Embedded in this treasure is wisdom, spiritual gifts, talents, uncommon understanding, name it.
THIS TREASURE IS HIDDEN
I must know that every treasure, as long as it is a treasure, must be hidden; it must not be exposed, this is because men of low understanding can devalue any treasure regardless of how valuable the treasure may be.
So God takes pleasure to hid treasures so that only men who place uncommon value in them can go out on a mission to discover and uncover them.
Proverbs 25:2 KJV
It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
Think about natural treasures like gold, silver, precious stones, crude oil; they are all hidden beneath the earth waiting for the discovery and exploration of men. Until treasures are discovered and exploited, it does no good to the man who possesses them.
Matthew 13:44
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
This is why you too have to discover your own treasure that is hidden inside you if you are going to become great in life. Nobody ever achieve greatness without self- discovery and without discovering the treasure that God has locked up in his inside.
YOU TOO HAVE A TREASURE HIDDEN IN YOU
The first thing you must realize from today is to know that you have a treasure inside you, this treasure, when discovered and explore has the capacity to transform your life for ever. The discovery and exploration of treasure changes the life of many nations that are rich with natural resources.
Don’t be in doubt. You, too, have a treasure hidden in you like every other person on earth especially now that you are born again, this makes every treasure to be embedded in the Holy Spirit.
Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
HOW DO YOU DISCOVER YOUR TREASURE
- Fellowship with God: The only person who knows where all treasures are hidden is God. When you consistently fellowship with God in the place of prayer, bible study, and meditation, he will begin to reveal treasures to you that ordinary in your widest imagination, you would not have been been able to discover.
Daniel 2:22
He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
- Fellowship with other Believers: You will never know the value of fellowshipping with one another until you do so consistently and faithfully, and you will soon discover hidden treasure with you. I personally remember that i discovered my teaching gift in church many year ago, and since that day it has been from glory to glory, and many people has been blessed and impacted with this gift. this is why the bible says that we must not forsake the assemblies of ourselves, that means going to church regularly, and fully participating in church activities. This is the reason God wants you to always be present in church, hearing the word of God, and participating fully in church activities.
Hebrews 10:25 (AMP)
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens [and influences] another [through discussion].
Hebrews 10:25 (KJV)
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
- Mentorship and Discipleship: We can see examples of how mentorship and discipleship help many to discover the treasure within them.
First, Mosses Mentored Joshua, Elijah Mentored Elisha, Jesus mentored His 12 Disciples, Paul Mentored Timothy, just name it. Mentors can also help you discover the treasures that God has put inside you. Get a mentor, submit yourself for discipleship, and you will never regret it.
Mark 1:17 (KJV)
And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me [as My disciples, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk], and I will make you fishers of men.”
- Expression of your Passion: Expressing your passion is to put into practice everything you have learnt, it is to take action whenever God steers your heart to do something, it is to do the assignment that God has given to you, it’s to walk in line with your calling. We could see how Moses, who thought he was an ordinary man, discovered God’s treasures that were hidden in him, and he ended up leading over 5 million people in the wilderness. What about Jesus’ disciples, they were very unlearned and local fishermen who never knew they had the treasures that can make them global figures with global impact. When they started preaching and doing the work of the ministry, following their passion, they discovered how great they were, and they went on to do great things.
Acts 4:13 (AMP)
Now, when the men of the Sanhedrin (Jewish High Court) saw the confidence and boldness of Peter and John, and grasped the fact that they were uneducated and untrained [ordinary] men, they were astounded, and began to recognize that they had been with Jesus.
Exodus 3:10, 11
10) Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people, Israel, out of Egypt.
11) But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”
- Service to God and Humanity: This is almost similar to our last point, but I separated it so I can have the privilege to tell you that in your local church, in your ministry, and in the kingdom of God, there is a lot of work to be done. Make yourself available and be part of the workforce in your church. It is not possible for you to be working faithfully doing the work of God and not find treasure. Treasures are not found at home; treasures are found in the field.
Matthew 13:44 (KJV)
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Jesus Himself worked while he was on earth. He sat at home so people can come and visit him, he moves from city to city, villages to villages, people’s houses, synagogues to synagogues, street to street, preaching the gospel and doing the work of God. You too should do the same thing, so you find the treasure that is hidden inside you.
John 9:4 (KJV)
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Matthew 9:37 (NIV)
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
